In a commentary on Psalm 139, when he gets to v. 21, one scholar writes:
“One must either hate the enemies of God and count them as his own enemies or else he must acknowledge that he does not desire the purposes of God to come to pass and that He does not wish to receive the glory that is His due. One cannot be wholly devoted to God unless he hates God’s enemies.”
