We can be motivated by all sorts of healthy and not-so-healthy reasons for living the Christian life. The Bible gives us the most effective and enduring motivator: peace. Having explained the wonder of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ in chapters 1 to 3 in Ephesians, Paul spends the second half (chapters 4 to 6) explaining how that truth compels our Christian lifestyle. Paul motivates us by urging us to the simplest actions we can ever be encouraged to take: "be who we already are".
