ALIVE - Ephesians 1 - 3Alive and Living

28/7/24

Speaker:

Scripture:
Ephesians
2:1-10

How do you view the Christian experience of life? Are we strugglers, plodders or victors? The apostle Paul gives us a majestic glimpse of the reality of our victory "in Christ" in this week's passage. In this most awesome summary of the gospel, Paul explains the scope of salvation from death to life, from wrath to glory, and we come to see just how "alive" we truly are as Christians!

Sermon outline:

  • Living but not “Alive” (v.1-3)
  • Raised and Reigning with Christ (v.4-7)
  • Alive and finally “Living” (v.8-10)

  1. What are verses 1 to 3 saying about the desperate predicament that sinners are in?
  2. What is it about being “dead in sin” that is self-deceiving?
  3. What remedy do verses 4 to 6 give us for being dead in sin? What do these verses tell us about God?
  4. What did God see in us that made us worth saving? Why did he do it?
  5. How does the fact that “faith” is a “gift of God” (v.8) impact the way we think about (and do) evangelism?
  6. How do our “good works in Christ” (v.10) differ from the “works” (v. 9) prior to Christ?
